  8.  USE THE F1 KEY TO CHECK FOR ERRORS ON JUST COMPLETED COMMANDS

TYPE the F1 key.  This pops up a text screen in front of your drawing page. Here you can see the last several commands you have entered.  Unfortunately, the pattern drawing "lisp routines" are lengthy and you will not be able to see the complete list of measurements you have entered.  Use the scroll bar to look further back in your command sequence.
TYPEing the F1 key is sometimes helpful if something occurs that you did not expect and you want to check to see if you made a command entry error.  However, usually using UNDO solves the problem anyhow, and ultimately this is what you will need to do, so why bother?  TYPEing the F1 key a second time or CLICKing the little X box in the upper right hand corner of the pop-up text window will close the window.

9.  SAVE THE DRAWING BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING ELSE

Now SAVE the pattern drawing before doing anything else.  It is wise to now give the pattern its own "drawing file" and its own name. If you are keeping your patterns on a "floppy disk", remember to tell the computer to save the drawing to the floppy disk. ( See Chapter IV, section 18)

IT IS IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER EACH TIME YOU SAVE A PATTERN DRAWING TO KNOW WHERE YOU ARE SAVING IT (WHAT "DISK DIRECTORY") AND WHAT THE NAME OF THE FILE IS.

10.  Now practice EXITing the drawing.  You have just SAVEd so now all you need to do is EXIT the drawing and CPM.

10.1.  One method of EXITing is to CLICK on the little X box in the upper right hand corner of the program window.  If you have just SAVEd the drawing the window will close and the CPM program will be closed. If the drawing has not been SAVE since your last command action, a pop-up window menu asking Save Changes to Drawing(the name of your file).dwg. Your choices are Yes, No and Cancel.

10.2.  The other method is to SELECT EXIT from the bottom of the FILE pop-down menu. The same options as above will happen.
